Broccoli Cheddar Quiche
This is an easy and delicious recipe from the Better Homes and Garden cook book.
Ingredients
- 1 singe crust pie dough
- 1/2 cup onions chopped
- 6 slices bacon chopped
- 8 eggs beaten
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup half & half
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- ground nutmeg dash
- 1 cup broccoli flowers heaping
- 1 1/4 cups cheddar cheese shredded
Instructions
- Prepare and roll out pastry for single crust pie. Line a 9-inch pie plate with the pastry.Trim and crimp edge. Line the pie crust with a double thickness of foil and bake at 450 degrees for 8 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 4-5 minutes, or until pastry is set. Remove from oven and reduce heat to 325 degrees.
- In a large skillet cook onion and bacon until onion is soft and bacon is crisp. Drain onion mixture on paper towels.
- Add eggs, sour cream and half & half to a large bowl and mix well. Mix in the salt, pepper, nutmeg, onion mixture, broccoli and cheddar. Pour into prepared pie crust and bake for 55 minutes or until set.
- Let rest 10 minutes, serve and enjoy.
