Sugar Cookies

This is a classic sugar cookie recipe passed down from my grandmother. I have no idea where she got it, but boy is it good. This recipe makes a bunch of cookies, a little over 5 dozen depending on the size of your cutters. If you like crisp cookies, put the dough in the refrigerator over night. We like them soft so we bake them immediately.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 3 eggs beaten
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 6 Tbs milk
  • 5 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 tsp baking powder

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together in a large bowl.
  • Mix the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
  • Stir the eggs, vanilla and milk into the sugar mixture.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
  • Take about 1/4 of the dough and roll out on a well floured surface, adding flour as needed to keep from sticking. (The dough should be very soft)
  • Cut into desired shapes and bake on an ungreased baking pan for 15 minutes.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
