Belgian Waffles

This waffle recipe is my go to for breakfast and dinner, I use arrow root powder instead of cornstarch as a healthier option. They hold up perfectly for chicken and waffles!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 Cup Flour
  • 1/4 Cup arrowroot
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Sugar
  • 2 Eggs room temperature and yolks separated from whites
  • 2 tbsp Melted Butter
  • 1 Cup Buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla

Instructions

  • Heat waffle iron. Preheat oven to 200 degrees F.
  • Combine flour, arrowroot, baking powder, salt, and sugar using.
  • Beat the egg yolk, milk, vanilla and butter together.
  • Combine wet ingredients to dry ingredients. Whisk until incorporated.
  • Whisk the egg white until soft peaks form using an electric mixer.
  • Carefully fold the egg whites into batter.
  • Cook waffles according to your waffle maker.
  • Place waffles directly on the oven racks until ready to serve.
