Biscuits Supreme

This is hands down my favorite biscuit recipe, I have tested a lot of different recipes and I always go back to this one. These biscuits are the most similar to what my grandmother used to make. I found this recipe in a Betty Crocker Cookbook years ago.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 tsp cream of tarter
  • 3/4 cup cold butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees
  • In a large bowl combine dry ingredients
  • Cut cold butter into cubes and using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Add butter milk all at once and mix just until combined with a fork.
  • Turn dough onto lightly floured surface, knead the dough gently until it holds together
  • Pat or lightly roll dough until its 3/4 inch thick
  • Cut dough with lightly floured biscuit cutter, re-roll scraps as necessary
  • Place on baking sheet and bake for 10-14 minutes or until golden
  • Remove biscuits from baking sheet and serve warm.
