Biscuits Supreme
This is hands down my favorite biscuit recipe, I have tested a lot of different recipes and I always go back to this one. These biscuits are the most similar to what my grandmother used to make. I found this recipe in a Betty Crocker Cookbook years ago.
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 3/4 tsp cream of tarter
- 3/4 cup cold butter
- 1 cup buttermilk
Preheat oven to 450 degrees
In a large bowl combine dry ingredients
Cut cold butter into cubes and using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add butter milk all at once and mix just until combined with a fork.
Turn dough onto lightly floured surface, knead the dough gently until it holds together
Pat or lightly roll dough until its 3/4 inch thick
Cut dough with lightly floured biscuit cutter, re-roll scraps as necessary
Place on baking sheet and bake for 10-14 minutes or until golden
Remove biscuits from baking sheet and serve warm.
