Flour Tortillas
If you have ever head fresh tortillas, then you know there is no comparison to store bought.This recipe is so simple, it just takes a little planning. When you first start making tortillas the hardest part is trying to get them round, but don't worry! No matter how they look they will taste great! Practice makes perfect when making tortillas.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup water warm
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cup flour
- 1/4 cup butter melted
Instructions
- I recommend leaving about 1/2 c. of flour out to incorporate while kneading. Once all ingredients are mixed and kneaded thoroughly, cover for 30 minutes. Then divide evenly into 8 pieces and role out until thin and round. Place into a pan on medium to low heat and cook each side until air bubbles start to form.Activity
- I start by adding my salt to warm water to help it dissolve
- Add melted butter and 1 1/2 cups of flour to water mixture, mix and knead thoroughly.
- Let rest for 30 minutes
- Divide evenly into 8 pieces and using additional 1/2 cup of flour as needed role out each tortilla until thin and round.
- Place into a pan on medium to low heat and cook until air bubbles start to form and tortilla is lightly brown, flip and remove when lightly brown.
