Preheat oven to 450 ℉
Place the chopped peaches in a sieve or colander, set over a bowl, and let the juice drain.
In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt. Mix with a fork.
Add butter and blend with a pastry blender, or fingers, until butter is evenly dispersed.
Pat the peaches with a paper towel.
Add peaches and milk and stir until evenly moistened.
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead until it comes together into a dry dough.
Cut the dough in half and pat each piece into a disk. Lightly roll into 6-inch circles, place on an ungreased baking sheet, and brush tops with beaten egg. Score each circle into 6 wedges
Bake 20 minutes, until tops are brown. Cool
